Courtney O’Connor

Biography

Born in Sudbury, Ontario, Courtney O’Connor nurtured her love of film, art, and music from a young age by constantly creating short films on the family home video camera, doing art projects, and taking piano lessons. In October 2005 Courtney received her Grade 8 Certification in Piano and Grade 2 Certification in Theory from the Royal Conservatory of Music.

In May 2007, Courtney completed the 2 year Fine Art program at Cambrian College in which she gained expertise in drawing, oil painting, mixed media, and sculpting. Courtney transferred these credits to Laurentian University where she majored in fine art and minored in theatre performance, graduating with a  Bachelor of Fine Arts Honours degree in May 2009. 

Courtney moved to Toronto, Ontario in September 2009, and began the esteemed Film and Television Production program at Humber College. Upon graduating with honours in 2012 Courtney began working as a lighting technician in Toronto's thriving film industry.

Courtney’s dream of creating a professional production company took root in 2012 with the completion of Ace: Karaoke Star; a short comedy. Courtney kept the momentum going by continuing to produce, direct, shoot and edit music videos, shorts, promos and live events for CABruneau Productions. CABruneau Productions Inc. became an official corporation on October 18, 2016.

Courtney began the IATSE 667 International Cinematographers Guild camera trainee program in May 2018. During the program Courtney trained in the camera department on large budget productions such as Suits, Murdoch Mysteries, Let It Snow, Utopia Falls, Grand Army and Jupiter’s Legacy. In February 2020 upgraded to 2nd assistant camera. She is a proud affiliate member of the Canadian Society of Cinematographers.
